What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the process of safely reducing defects in the clear coat to improve gloss and clarity.

Paint correction is the process of using machine polishing to reduce defects in the clear coat. These defects can include swirl marks, wash marks, haze, oxidation and light scratches.

The purpose is to improve how the paint reflects light. When defects are reduced, the finish looks clearer, deeper and glossier.

There are different levels of correction. A single-stage correction focuses on gloss and lighter defects, while multi-stage correction targets heavier damage with cutting and refining steps.

Not every scratch can be removed safely. If a scratch is too deep, removing it may require taking away too much clear coat. A professional approach is about improvement, not reckless chasing.

Paint correction is especially valuable before ceramic coating because the finish you create is the finish you protect.

At Elite Auto Detailing, correction packages are recommended based on paint condition, customer expectations and safe polishing limits.
